CarePlus Introduces CareSalute HMO Medicare Advantage Plan to Complement VA Healthcare Coverage
While CareSalute is an option for all Medicare beneficiaries, the new plan, offered in Broward and Palm Beach counties, is designed to complement VA healthcare coverage and includes dental coverage, transportation, and a fitness program
MIAMI — Nov. 18, 2021— CarePlus Health Plans, Inc., Florida’s largest* Medicare Advantage plan rated 5 out of 5 stars for 2022, today announced its new CareSalute plan, a 2022 Medicare Advantage HMO offering in Broward and Palm Beach counties designed to complement VA healthcare coverage.**
“We’re thrilled to introduce CareSalute as an expansion of our ongoing commitment to the health and well-being of veterans and their families,” said Bruno Piquin, CarePlus President, “which includes our long-standing support of the VFW organization. In designing this health plan, it was important to our CarePlus team to create coverage that not only enhances options for veterans but also helps these American heroes overcome barriers to achieving their best health.”
CareSalute was created to complement VA health care by covering services at non-VA (civilian) facilities and features such as dental coverage, transportation, and fitness classes that help provide a comprehensive approach to health care. Because some veterans may prefer prescription drug coverage through their VA benefits, the CareSalute plan does not include prescription drug coverage. Veterans can select from any Medicare Advantage plan available in their area, and CareSalute is an option for all Medicare beneficiaries.
CarePlus is a recognized leader in healthcare delivery that has been offering Medicare Advantage health plans in Florida for over 20 years. On Oct. 8, for the fourth year in a row and for the fifth time overall, CarePlus Health Plans achieved 5 out of 5 stars – the highest possible rating – from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) for the 2022 plan year.
The new CareSalute Medicare option will be available during the Medicare annual enrollment period – which runs from Oct. 15 through Dec. 7, 2021, for plan coverage taking effect Jan. 1, 2022. People enrolled in a Medicare Advantage plan may also make a one-time switch from a plan rated less than 5 stars to a plan with a 5-star rating during the 5-star Special Enrollment Period, which takes place from Dec. 8 to Nov. 30 of the following year.

- $144 back every month on your Medicare Part B premium – that’s up to $1,728 a year back in your pocket
