Oatmeal is the breakfast cereal to start off your day! It’s easy to cook, can cook enough for 7 days, and look at what 1/2 bowl of nutrition you will get!

I’ll tell you a secret about my childhood with oatmeal. My mother was very conscious about good food and was big on natural health and each morning she would beg me to eat oatmeal which I didn’t want to do. So, she said she would pay me 25 cents to eat it! Of course, I did! And now, I mostly have a bowl of oatmeal every morning, without being paid in money, but in knowing how much nutrition I am getting. Thanks, Mom!

With just one-half cup of oats (pre-cooked), you get:

Manganese: 191% of the RDI, Phosphorus: 41% of the RDI, Vitamin B1: 39% of the RDI, Magnesium: 34% of the RDI, Copper: 24% of the RDI, Iron: 20% of the RDI, Zinc: 20% of the RDI, Folate: 11% of the RDI, Vitamin B5: 10% of the RDI Plus some calcium, potassium, vitamin B6, and vitamin B3.
